Hello, my name is

Brian Wainwright

Professional Nerd.
Amateur Golfer.
Evertonian.

About me

I am a Guidewire Practice Lead based in the North West of the UK, with 20 years of industry experience. In my spare time I play a silly amount of golf in the summer and throw myself down mountains strapped to a snowboard in the winter. The rest of the time I torture myself by support Everton FC.

I lead a Guidewire Practice

So, what is “Guidewire”? Guidewire is a technology company that builds software and platforms for the P&C insurance industry, helping insurers engage, innovate, and grow efficiently.

I’ve spent the past 20 years of my careers specialising in Guidewire platforms and technologies. I worked my way up through pretty much every level, starting as a junior developer through senior and principal lead roles, to the point where I am now the Practice Lead for all things Guidewire at Endava (FTSE: DAVA).

I play golf and snowboard

It’s true, I’m one of those guys that is seemingly obsessed with playing golf. I do play a lot during the summer, but look at it this way – I get to get some exercise in the fresh air which is good for my physical health, and I get to spend quality time with my friends and fully decompress and destress which is great for my mental health and strengthens friendships without sitting in a pub or bar.

Similar thing with snowboarding – there’s nothing better than being on top of a mountain under a blue sky.

Work to live right?

I support Everton FC

Evertonians have a saying “Evertonians are born not manufactured. We do not choose, we are chosen. Those who understand need no explanation.” You see, I had no choice.

I’m from the city of Liverpool, football is a religion here, you’re either “Blue” (Everton FC) or “Red” (Liverpool FC). I’ve been an Evertonian all my life and a season ticket holder for over 20 years, and this club has tortured me for most of that time!
